As part of a wider initiative between NRMCA’s Build with Strength and Habitat for Humanity International to construct at least 50 sustainable concrete home in 50 states, the Tacoma/Pierce Habitat built three homes in Gig Harbor, WA using Solid Carbon concrete.

Partnering with Heidelberg Materials, Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) were made with Solid Carbon’s admixture. This sustainable and noncombustible concrete building system reduces upfront expenses and onsite construction time. The technique and materials provided fire resistant, energy efficient benefits, and sound-proofing, along with the low-carbon construction footprint.

Several partners, donations, and collaborations made this project possible and a lot of knowledge was gained toward the goal of providing resilient, affordable housing with carbon neutrality.
