Burnside Skatepark

Built and funded by skateboarders on Halloween night in 1990, Burnside Skatepark in Portland, OR is 9,000 sf of concrete featuring hips, pools, pyramids and vertical sections. Originally built without permission, the park has been accepted by the City of Portland as a public skatepark but receives no funding. It is regarded as an on-going project that is funded by donations.

After connecting with Sage Bolyard of Collective Concrete, the opportunity to put Solid Carbon admixtures into the latest installment of concrete and sequester carbon forever in this Portland landmark was easy to seize.

Knife River graciously poured on a Saturday using their shotcrete technique, and dozens of volunteers helped shape and smooth the concrete. The new feature adds vertical walls, a tunnel, and sequestered 10lbs of carbon per yard.
